This is the book that turned me from an aspiring engineer to an aspiring Mathematician. A book like this may be less valuable to majors in fields besides math, such as engineers, or any who need an emphasis on physical interpretations and applications. Spivak will teach you about calculus but if you don't have the prerequisite logic, you won't really understand what's going on. Check it out if you are interested.
That being said, Spivak has been described by some as a deep real-analysis text more than a calculus book, so you would still deeply cover all the fundamentals. I've never been embarassed to tell anyone I first learned calculus from "Calculus for Dummies" before I michafl it from Courant.
For discrete math, I think Susanna Epps' discrete math book is good and has a lot of computer calculjs application sections. I made it through the first chapter, but was blindsided by the difficulty of the first chapter's problems. Is a pure mathematics text and has no mention of physical or tecnological use Obviously, I horribly underestimated its difficulty.
His book Calculus takes a very rigorous and theoretical approach to introductory calcluus. Thanks for telling us about the problem. This is a very good introduction to calculus and higher mathematics. Jan 22, Pooh Pintola rated it it was amazing Shelves: I wouldn't really consider this as being better covered.
Post as a guest Name. Spivak's celebrated textbook is widely held as one of the finest introductions to mathematical analysis.
I have to make this disclaimer because sadly, in today's day and age, it is almost too much to ask of someone. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. No trivia or quizzes yet.
